Elena Aitzkoa (Apodaka, 1984) is a sculptor and poet, though her artistic practise also encompasses painting, drawing, performance and film directing in an attempt to get closer to reality. Her recent projects include HEADSCARFS CLOSE TO THE GROUND (Oslo Pilot, Oslo 2016) and NUESTRO AMOR NACIÓ EN LA EDAD MEDIA (OUR LOVE WAS BORN IN THE MIDDLE AGES) (Azala, Araba, 2013-2017). Her latest individual exhibitions comprise: SUSTRATO DINAMITA (DYNAMITE SUBSTRATE) (Galería Rosa Santos, Valencia, 2017); CÉLULA, GORRIÓN, LAGO RUPESTRE (CELL, SPARROW, PREHISTORIC LAKE) (Galería Carreras Múgica, Bilbao, 2016); and MUJER PRIMITIVA, PRAXIS (PRIMITIVE WOMAN, PRAXIS) (Museo Artium, Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2013). She has performed in venues including La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Half House (Barcelona), San Telmo (San Sebastián), Festival Sonic Circuits (Washington-DC) and The Super Coda Club (NYC). In 2013 she published her book La Revolución de las extremidades (Revolution of the Extremities), and in 2015 received the Gure Artea prize for creative work.
