Licia Verde

Licia Verde is an Italian cosmologist who studies the evolution of the universe and the connections between fundamental physics and observation of the cosmos. After studying in the United Kingdom and working in the USA, she became an ICREA Professor at the University of Barcelona's Institute of Cosmos Sciences.

She has worked on analysing and interpreting data from large galaxy surveys like 2dF and SDSS, as well as working with data from the NASA WMAP space probe, which provided a detailed image of the primitive universe. She has received numerous awards, amongst which are: The Gruber Cosmology Prize in 2012, The Thompson Reuters Award in 2015, The Narcis Monturiol Medal in 2017 and the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics in 2018.
