Taxio Ardanaz (Pamplona, 1978) lives and works in Bilbao. Holder of a BA in Fine Arts by the University of the Basque Country, in recent years he has carried out residencies in Havana, Bregenz (Austria), Bilbao, Mexico City and Beijing.
He has had an individual exhibition in Havana: Artista x Artista (2016); Bilbao: Gio Bat (2015) and Egurre (Sala Rekalde, 2014); Madrid: Luz Perpetua (Galería Raquel Ponce, 2013) and Forlorn Hope (RMS El Espacio, 2011); Mexico City: Venceremos (Ateneo Español de México, 2012), ¡A pesar de todo! (AN Studio, 2011); and in Pamplona: Resignados in the Polvorín room in the Ciudadela (2008). Among other collective exhibitions, worth highlighting is his participation in “Entornos Próximos 2008”, Artium, Vitoria-Gasteiz.
He has received many artistic creation scholarships and several acknowledgements, such as the First Prize at the 15th Young Artists Competition in Pamplona (1999)and Second Prize at the 24th Encuentros de Navarra Competition (2007); was selected at the Ertibil 2008 itinerant exhibition, at the International Plastic Arts Competition of Pollença (2010) and the Ciutat de Palma Award (2014), among others.
